Rules for Age Groups 7-9 & 10-12

Offense:

  • Two 18-minute halves

  • Running Clock

    • Clock ONLY stops for timeouts, officials’ discretion, injury, and during the last two minutes of each half in regulation on every whistle

    • Clock does NOT stop in the last two minutes if point margin is 20+

Defense:

  • Players must guard in a man-to-man coverage. No zone defenses at any point during the game

  • Players can only guard their person once offense has crossed half court

  • There will be no press UNTIL the final two minutes of the game

    • NO full court pressing by either team if point margin is 20+

Timeouts in Regulation and Overtime:

Regulation:

  • Two timeouts per half

  • Timeouts do not carry over

  • Exceptions include injury or officials’ discretion

Overtime:

  • One timeout per team for 1st and 2nd OT

  • Timeouts do not carry over

  • Exceptions include injury or officials’ discretion

  • NO timeouts in sudden death (3rd OT)

Overtime:

  • First OT is 2 minutes

  • Second OT is 1 minute

  • Running clock

    • Clock ONLY stops for timeouts, officials’ discretion, injury, and during the final minute on every whistle

  • Triple OT enacts Sudden Death

    • Sudden Death Rule: First team to score a basket in the quarter will win the game, including on free throws

    • NO timeouts

    • NO time on the clock

  • Players must guard in a man-to-man coverage. No zone defenses at any point during the game

  • Full court press is ALLOWED
